Although it's 70F outside now that nasty white stuff is in the forecast for tomorrow night.

The morning drive to work has been in the 40's - I left my jacket at work so it will be a
chilly drive tomorrow.

Its a tad on the chilly side here too....but this month we've had a record rainfall to match 1915's record.....

and our dams are 49% full so that is great news for us...

It's not supposed to last, though.

It is always green....gum trees are "ever greens"....they never lose their leaves.....or that is deceptive.....they lose leaves all year round rather, unlike the deciduous who lose the entire foliage in Autumn.

Guess who didn't throw snail pellets around this year and had their orchids annihilated?

Snails are a garden problem for you?

The freezing temps pretty much wiped out my flowers but the dianthus and snapdragons
are still blooming for now.

It's up to 52F now!

Snails and black caterpillars..It is my fault for not putting snail bait around…too late now though….they’re eaten.

Look what I have…..two new chicks…..$9.00 each. We’ve put them under the bantam…..tomorrow morning, she’ll be a mother.

I have a broody bantam so now she’ll be a mother for the first time…lol…I hope it is successful or we’ll be $18.00 out of pocket.

When you have a broody hen sitting on unfertilized eggs, you can remove the eggs and place babies there as long as you do it at night and take the eggs away, the hen in none the wiser….for now, they’re sitting on top of the computer for your inspection…they’re too old actually…you’re supposed to do it with day old chicks but it wasn’t to be.

She has accepted them....this morning she is running around all puffed up and proud...

it is damn cute...

It did work....it is fantastic..

she took to the babies straight away and what is more, they took to her as well....I've got it filmed my mobile...

you must do this when the chicken and this case a bantam has been on the eggs [hahahah real golf balls] for 3 weeks....you just take out the golf balls and slip the babies in overnight and then take the fake eggs away and whallah,..instant family....

I've separated them into the huge abandoned budgie aviary I have so the other chickens don’t kill them or cats get to them and they’re all safe and happy.

I remember years ago being the mum and using a bloody old lampstand turned upsided down where they huddle under a light globe for warmth….thank goodness for broody chooks or we’d be stuffed….lol

Awww they are adorable.
I got chicks for the kids
one Easter.  Then they
turned into full grown chickens.
The dog loved chasing them and
they would run around the yard but
I finally gave them to a neighbour who
had a chicken coup & actually raised chickens.
