My Acrylics Paintings.

I don’t like acrylics as much as oils. They give me a headache and they dry too quickly. The biggest drawback with acrylics to me is, that the paint dries darker than what you mix up initially. Oils, doesn’t do that. Oil stays consistent and I love that about oils….Another thing I worry about with acrylics is, will the painting you make today be the same painting 200 yrs from now? I doubt it. As a temporary picture, that would be OK but when you’re spending hundreds or thousands of dollars for a painting, you want to know it is going to be worth the investment….at least that is how I think.

Anyway, I had fun making them and most of it is from my imagination although I actually did run out and buy a pineapple to paint. I am fairly proud of the pineapples in this painting.

I had to take photos of it on an extreme angle. This was because no matter how many shots with my digital camera I tried, the flash would totally bleach out certain areas.

This is actually a section of painting done with mixed media....

I made up a texture with plaster, glue and white paint...sanded it back, painted over it with acrylics and also later oil paints and oil pastels...

Because the of the work I do, my paintings are highly glazed.

Photographing them is impossible without major white out areas..

Some of my best work went in my fire so I only have photos of them/

I haven't done any painting for awhile. I'm learning the computer medium and I'm using that as my canvas....I feel life is getting too hard now...I'm trying to pace myself better..

lol...when I was 13, my art teacher at high school said, "you paint like Van Gogh" (she was talking about brush stroke) that has changed a bit now... but anyway, I didn't know who Van Gogh was...lol ...now I do of course.
