Title: In the middle of the night . . .
Post by: Omnia on January 22, 2009, 06:39:21 am
. . .  I go walking in my sleep
through the jungle of doubt
to the river so deep.
I know I'm searching for something
something so undefined
that it can only be seen
by the eyes of the blind
in the middle of the night . . . ”

What is left of us when the food we eat, the water we drink
and the air we breathe is taken away?
What remains of us when our ancestral touch points,
our culture and language, our entire network of relationships and perceptions, are gone?
That which makes you you and me me is not some allegedly immortal speck of consciousness soul floating somewhere between flesh and mind that we speculate will survive after our dust settles.

That which makes us individuals is the infinitely flowing energy between us,
an energy identical to that which supports all that is.
It is not only my existence or yours, but existence in its entirety,
this dance of vibration that moves without boundaries or prejudice
from earth to the heavens ~ to humans ~ to stars . . . permeating everything.

In truth, a frightening truth, I have nothing to hold onto,
nothing that will last.
Space supports all that is, seen and unseen, sentient and passed on.
Life is a coalescence of energy ~ it forms and then it dissolves.
To seek identity with that which is constantly in a state of change,
to harbor hope of happiness from friendship or intimacy,
to seek refuge in love joyously experienced or unrequitedly tasted,
is to miss the truth of that already in evidence.

I am but a wave among the many of the ocean,
flowing in and then ebbing back into the great waters from whence I spawned . . .

Omnia ~

"In the middle of the night
I go walking in my sleep
through the desert of truth
to the river so deep
we all end in the ocean
we all start in the streams
we're all carried along
by the river of dreams
in the middle of the night . . . "

The river is like the flow of life.
