Boyle insisted she wouldn't change despite becoming a worldwide phenomenon via Britain's Got Talent and YouTube.

But when the 47-year-old singer stepped out of her Scottish home this week, a number of tabloids were quick to scrutinise her new outfit.
"And you said you wouldn't change, Susan Boyle!" the Daily Mail said, publishing pictures of the overnight celebrity wearing a bright patterned dress, leather jacket, beaded necklace and leopard-print heels.
While hardly an extreme makeover, the middle-aged virgin also appeared to be wearing make-up in public for the first time.
"[Boyle] traded her shapeless stage dress for a fitted, jersey wrap dress — similar to the signature style of fashion diva Diane Von Furstenburg — and opted for vibrant teal and magenta colors in lieu of her usual muted hues," the New York Daily News' entertainment section said.

Meanwhile, prominent Australian singing teachers have agreed that despite earning a mountain of praise, church singer Boyle is not the most technically-tuned performer.
"As a singing teacher, I wouldn't say 'That's a great voice'," said Jennifer Murphy, the head of music theatre at the Australian Institute of Music.
"I would instead say 'That's a great singer' — there's a difference.
"As a technician, she's not great ... [but] as a person who is able to 'joy sing', she's a winner."
Renowned singing coach David Jaanz believed that Boyle should work on her voice before embarking on a professional career.
"Realistically, most coaches would agree that she can be improved," said Jaanz, who has trained chart-topping Australian singers including Delta Goodrem and Gabrielle Cilmi.
"She obviously has a God-given gift but she could do with a bit of brushing up on technique.
"[But] look at Elvis Presley - throughout his career he was a great singer but technically terrible. He was vocally messy but he had the charisma to become a legend."
And Australian Idol singing coach Erana Clark agreed that Boyle would benefit from a mentor, but more to deal with living in the public eye.
"She has a beautiful voice but I would hope that she has people around her to take care of her," Clark said.
"I think more than the vocal side of things it's the psyche that needs to be taken care of.
"A lot of the fascination with her might be out of curiosity. I hope she doesn't just become a curiosity."
And as far as "Elvis" went...no one has taken his place....
Susan Boyle CAN sing and even though Kylie Monogue looks/looked great on stage, MONOGUE CAN'T SING....too bad they mentioned Delta in this news story who not only looks good and can sing cuz/but if they were mentioning Monogue, they'd be grasping at staws.......
as for the detractors of Susan....stfu and stf down..
Oh I'm so disgusted I'd rip their bloody throats out if they were anywhere near me....
When we were growing up listening to the great songs on the radio or listening to 78's [mum had plenty] or vinyls.....NO ONE KNEW what the singers looked like....we just appreciated great music and singers when we heard it/them...
