Let me watch you fiddle a while longer with this piece of my heart
I shall sit in my chair while you spin your tale,
paint your picture of the way it will be and me
falling for you slowly, end over end, like that
Wedgewood platter, about to shatter, the drop
tantalizing and slow, my effort to stop it so
heroic but the crash so final and so inevitable in its
simplicity, and you so dramatic
as you angrily kick the pieces of
my heart beneath my chair.
