Tea or coffee? Which one, or what else, do you drink when you get up in the morning? Or are you one of those people that can just hop out of bed and into the shower and get going with your day? For me, personally, I have to have at LEAST two cups of coffee upon awakening or I'm useless. I think I'm physically addicted to it - if I don't have a cup first thing, after about half an hour I get a headache that will not go away until I ingest caffeine. I also get bitchy (bitchier) and I'm thoroughly disoriented; without coffee it takes me about an hour to be funcitonal. Also, for my fellow coffee lovers, how do you brew your java - coffee maker, percolator, press? I have a French press that I absolutely adore. It's a little difficult to use it first thing in the a.m. when I'm all out of sorts (plus you have to wait for the kettle to boil to brew the stuff) but I think it's worth the 15 minutes because the coffee (freshly ground) tastes phenomenal. For the tea people - bags or brewed? Do you use a ball or a strainer? My Irish Nana taught me to make a pot of tea with a strainer (she read the leaves in the bottom of our cups, the old witch - born on Halloween!) and she'd roll over in her grave if she saw me using Earl Gray or Irish Breakfast tea in a bag. I realize this is a chitty-chatty kind of thread, but I'm curious.

That's similar to the press I have, but mine's a Bodkin. It's Pyrex, but I'm always paranoid that I'm going to push the plunger too hard and break it, lol. I never thought of using it for tea, though. I'll try that tomorrow afternoon!

I NEVER buy rubbish tea. My SO used to be a professional chef (actually, he had his own restaurant in Belfast and he was Executive Sous Chef for HardRock Europe in Belfast and Barcelona) and he's ridiculously picky about everything that comes in the house.
On the other hand, he cooks every night, so I can't complain. He also does the grocery shopping with me, so...

Well then, you're on your way to a successful cuppa, as we call a cup of tea in Australia.
don't buy "green tea" unless you're going to eat Chinese food [then that is peerrrrfect]....buy the black tea...that is tea that has been "cured" or fermented as it is called.
Now since your SO is a chef....tell him that one time I had Chinese tea with my Chinese food and it was a combination of Jasmine and Oolong tea....50/50.....oh man when I tell you it was soooo perfect with Chinese, I am not kidding.....it was served fairly weak too...that is the secret to drinking "green tea."
in Australia, "black tea" is usually drunk, white, no sugar, or one sugar. You don't see many drink tea without milk in it....not too much milk either.
I have an aunty frm the Philippines....and they were so poor when she was growing up that they made "coffee" with burned rice.....that is a true story.

I love green tea ice cream at my Chinese restaurant. It sounds gross but it's yummeh!
The worst coffee I ever had, believe it or not, was in New Orleans. They put frigging CHICORY in the coffee and it tastes like ass. I had to go to Metairie to Dunkin' Donuts, and even there it was bad. Ugh.

Nothing fancy - I buy the fresh ground store brand and use what ever coffee maker I have at the time.

A quick start to the morning is by having my missus blow my **** with her **** lipstick, that normally helps me arise out of bed. Magic Mushrooms with Sausage/beans/toast and eggs are good back up, likewise an injection of speed up the colon helps kick start the day. Morphine can help slumber you into the lunch period, just as MDMA will make you love your neighbour later. I for one like to round the afternoon off with a high dosage of DMT, which reinforces the current nightmare state of affairs that we are currently living within. Towards night-time (when my sharpened teeth portrude), I liken to a quick shag, and only then, a cup of charis.

I love nicotine and caffeine. If I really want to go all out, I chew betel leaf.
