WASHINGTON — Get ready for the in-law in chief.
Transition officials said Friday that President-elect Barack Obama's mother-in-law, Marian Robinson, is moving into the White House to join Michelle Obama and their two children.
It's not clear whether the move will be permanent.
Katie McCormick Lelyveld, the press secretary for Michelle Obama, said Robinson would decide in coming months whether she wants to stay in Washington.
Robinson retired from her job as a bank executive secretary to help with her granddaughters during the campaign.

I bet the whole tribe will be moving in, in no time at all.

He is also talking about taking the bowling alley out and making that into a basketball court. Just what I wanted! I wonder what else he will spend my money on.

They have staff there who can and could take care of the kids. The mother in law wants to live in the white house and the people will foot the bill.

If she needs a job it is better for her to do it than strangers.
I'm not against the idea that a granny will supervise babysitting.

Someone needs to send him my message.
That is a better solution.
Maybe he is going to invite all the bros from the various basketball teams to come and help him run the country.

I don't know why he wants to take it out. The bowling alley was a birthday present for Harry Truman. It was originally a 2 lane alley but it was redone at some point with just one lane. Basketball is his sport so I guess it's his house to do with what he likes. I just don't wanna pay for it. Ceasar has been greedy & I'm really sick to death of it.

I think he should leave history alone.
I am sure that he and his family will get plenty of great holidays over their 4 yr term.
Yes, I would object to wasted money in these hard times.
Shouldn't they be setting an excellent leftie example?
Back during the second world war, one of our Prime Minister's wife, Mrs John Curtin refused to fly overseas with her husband because she said the fare wasted taxpayer's, money....
they don't build lefties like that anymore.

In terms of the White House, I don't think Obama should be changing it to suit himself.
In regards to the child care, several other recent Presidents had young children living with them (Bill Clinton, Jimmy Carter) so I would imagine they did have live in help who cared for the children. I would also imagine they were paid via the household budget the President is given.
Obama and his wife will be no doubt traveling to different states and countries during the next four years and I don't think the kids will always be going along with them. So someone will be needed to take care of the kids.
It's the choice of the mother in law which seems unusual, but again it's their choice who cares for their children.
