I watched The King's Speech 5 times in the last week!  I loved the movie, but as an American raised on the idea that no one has a divine right to rule, it left me with a curiosity and lingering unrest about England's acceptance of the continuing dynasty.

I watched all the extra features, which were quite interesting.

So, I went exploring a bit more deeply into the royal family and ended up here: http://www.princeofwales.gov.uk/finances/index.html
From there I explored the Duchy of Cornwall.   Sounds kind of feudal to me.  However, it left me wanting to visit the Duchy of Cornwall and I have never had an urge to visit England before.

It's a fantastic system.... the Queen heads the commonwealth which Australia is part of... if our Prime Ministers don't run the country properly, the Queen can sack them... its a real safety net from corruption.

Wow, I never heard it put that way.  I didn't know she had that power, the power to sack.

well there are plenty of Kings in line for the throne so a Queen is a long, long time away and I won't be alive to see one again.

Kings can be just as corrupt as their female counterparts.

We're living in a dangerous world.

The other thing she has total control over is the military. England cannot go to war unless she signs off on it…. The politician cannot send England to war.

She works a full time job even into her 80s. And in the whole time she has been Queen, she has only missed 6 engagements... the last one because she has a back problem.

She is extraordinary, isn't she?

We love the queen.   Cheesy

God help you all when she's gone.

they're starting to do to Princess Catherine what they did to Princess Diana...

I wished they would stop this ridiculous worship of pretty females... they assassinate them in the long run.

I thnk Kate can hold her own.
She won't tolerate bullies.  She'll
demand her husband crack the whip.

she shouldn't have to hold anything...

the paparazzi and the manic celeb obsessed public should leave people alone.

I am really glad the Royals are fighting them in the courts finally, too.
