http://www.usatoday.com/news/nation/2008-09-12-ike-video_N.htmpretty horrendous. What are the people going to do, I wonder? Bush has had some heavy duty problems since he became President. 9/11, vicious unrelenting hurricanes, forrest fires, tornados, who'd want the job of usa's President when there will probably be more of the same....not me, that is for sure.

There are some excellent, excellent pictures here of Ike's devastation too...

what irritates me is people should have saved as much water before the storm came.....they should have filled every empty vessel that could get their hands on.
If people did that beforehand, water wouldn't be an issue....

A wrestler called Booker T was supposed to be at a TNA Wreslting Pay Per View called No Surrender last night in Canada. However, he couldn't be there for the main event because he lives in Texas and could not get out to travel to Canada.
What was originally supposed to be a four man match for the TNA Championship Title became a 3 man match instead.

Having lost a home personally, I am well and truly aware of what those people are going through. It changes you on the inside, forever…..but I was only 1 house in the neighbourhood so everyone pitched in and helped [bless all their lovely souls too]….I cannot even fathom what having a whole neighboured destroyed would be like….
In the late 70’s, [1978 I think] Perth had a cyclone, not like we get in the North where cyclones are the same as the usa’s hurricanes and equally as destructive, but since hardly anyone lives up in our North West hellhole not many people are affected like the usa, in other words, only thousands maybe required to evacuate instead of millions….plus buildings and homes are prepared for the most part…Ours was called Cyclone Alby and it was funny actually because 6 months after the cyclone, all one side of trees were brown from wind burn….people say the wind cannot burn and I am here to tell you it does….the constant friction burns them…

It does go to show that we all are still at the mercy of nature at times.

We are indeed at the mercy of our environments and it should humble people but it doesn't unless if effects you personally then suddenly you "get it", it dawns on you what we're all really about...I get impatient with people somethimes, especially the AW's fleas and BC of this world. We have to change, we have to have more fellow feeling for other people.
I remember Dean going off his tree about people who live in dangerous places like the gulf and blaming them for living there but that is just plain stupid....someone has to go get the oil and gas....that means workers and workers have families and families need infrastructure.....it is easy to dismiss an event when you don't live in it....

I somehow doubt that AW, VC and flea will ever be able to care about another human being..other than themselves, that is.

They care about other humans who they think will feather their nests.

They care about other humans who they think will feather their nests. It doesn't sound like any of them are currently married at the time, so apparently that doesn't apply to them either.

I wonder how stable the house is, though.

yes, it would be good to know that. I think the furnature may have been saved and other bits and pieces but you cannot tell from a distance....we don't know what was blown off walls or what amount has been damaged by the rain. Still, if they all used better quality building techniques and materials, there probably would have been more houses still standing.

These people are insane trying to stick around in a hurricane, not to mention putting the helicopter pilots at risk.
What were they thinking?
