It has been brought to my attention that an American Group called Alabama has stolen the melody of an Aussie artist songwriter who wrote the theme to Prisoner ( Cell Block H)

US group 'ripped off' Prisoner theme tun

THE famous theme song to Prisoner On The Inside is back in the spotlight for all the wrong reasons.

Australian country music singer Allan Caswell who penned the catchy tune in 1978 has claimed mega US band Alabama has ripped off his work.

Caswell said Alabama's song Christmas in Dixie is a dead ringer for his former number one hit sung by Lynee Hamilton.

He's told the Seven Network's Today Tonight he's disgusted because it's theft.

But Caswell said compensation is unlikely as both he and the country and western super group are signed to the same record company.
