When my house burned down in Feb 1998, my IBM computer went up in smoke but not the discs [whatever they called]….I had all of the computer backed up…..when I got a new place, someone gave me a very old computer for free so I could type letters and play around in paint….it was an old school computer….I typed letters and played in ms paint on it……after awhile, I wanted to buy a new computer and go on the net and I paid 2.5 grand for an XP with everything attached but it didn’t recognize the components of the old system …with my art, school projects and ms paint designs and a copy of a book I was working on so I bought a cheap, refurbished computer to read my discs…..that is the second computer……the second computer is used for people who want to practice typing and play games, etc…but is as slow as ****…..now, the computer technician has put all the information from that computer to the XP so I have a system that says, “old computer files.”……and the screen is hooked up to the XP so two people can work online at the same time….you only need a screen and keyboard which I have….there is absolute no need for me to get rid of it….
I honestly thought I would never have back my old work until a technician came along and saved the day…
I am not into having the latest this and that…..I buy the best at the time, money buys and when it dies, I replace it, with the latest best at the time…I am far far too busy to bury myself with the latest contraption when I know bloody well that whatever you buy today is superseded before it leaves the department store…try as a I may, I still end up with endless alliances that I don’t want anymore…
I grieve the antiques and art, books and music collection and hi fi system….nothing these days sounds as good as I lost in my fire…..and have no plans in replacing what I lost because my values have drastically changed. I absolutely recommend people down size and keep down sizing….if you got extra, give it away…sell it for cash if you want….but stop accumulating and clogging the planet with endless **** junk that there seems to be no end of.
So it is actually YOU who should get with the program....the green program..
This is the latest of 5 desks taking up space in my art studio...more junk.... |
