Black Friday, February 1998 was the day before my house burned down on the 14th of February and in the middle of a heat wave….anyway my husband was making concrete panels for a Scallop factory and one panel was 3 stories high. He was up the top of a ladder, three stories high, when the ladder started to unbalance. He gripped the top of the panel and held onto the ladder and screamed out for some help. Eventually help came but it could have been tragic….of course the next day was the day house got burned down and that was a huge trauma for everyone… In 1964 on Valantines Day my father who was skipper of the Cathy Jo crayboat and two deckhands went missing at sea and were never found…so Valentine’s day isn’t a good one either. There is only 1.5 hrs to go until this 13th day is over for me and apart from a nice meat package delivery, largely uneventful. |
