Insert Quote Proboards is an earlier version of this system, called YaBB (Yet another Bulletin Board). The creators of YaBB split off and created SMF. YaBB hasn't really been upgraded much since then. The Proboards system has some various bugs in it which may or may not have been fixed. SMF is undergoing constant upgrades. It's a much more secure system.
